Established in 1987 by Billy Ferries (former owner), the business started from a small family owned workshop. Billy divided his time between designing kitchens and playing as a semi-professional footballer with Ross County Football Club until demand for his kitchens meant football had to take a back seat. After this extremely successful period he relocated to a larger rented facility on Blarlaith Industrial estate, Tain in 1991.
In 1993 and with demand for his kitchens ever growing we quickly outgrew the ‘new’ facility and we moved once again to our current purpose-built showroom in Tain where we have been for over 25 years. Ferries Kitchens became a Limited Company in 2002.
After leaving school in 1980 Martyn joined Schreiber Furniture in Runcorn Cheshire and served his apprenticeship as a wood machinist manufacturing kitchen cabinets.
Throughout the 1980’s & 90’s he accepted various roles and positions, working up through the company to become a Senior Manager for Howdens Joinery (formally part of the MFI Group).
As Technical Design Manager he was responsible for a team of nine designers developing new kitchen, bedroom and lounge furniture for the organisation.
After 28 years with the group he left Howdens Joinery and in 2008 joined a small family run kitchen manufacturer to help develop and grow their business. Eventually in 2017 he relocated to the Scottish Highlands after purchasing Ferries Kitchens in Tain.
Although Director of the business Martyn has a very hands-on approach, working closely with clients to designing their dream kitchen. He focuses on company development looking at future trends making sure Ferries Kitchens is always at the forefront of design.

Billy studied kitchen design whilst working for Moben Kitchens and in 1987 he decided to set up his own kitchen retail business. Billy is the founder of Ferries Kitchens.
During this period, Billy also played semi-professional football with Ross-County Football club, but the success of Ferries Kitchens meant the football had to take a back seat to allow him to focus on the company.
After three decades of running a very successful business as director he decided to hang up his boots for the second time, selling the company to Martyn, the current owner and director.
Billy’s role in the company is as executive designer encompassing kitchen design, product ordering, installation co-ordination and product development to list but a few.
